Fellow members and activists,
I am honoured to stand as a candidate for the AICSES Board of Directors. As a federal public servant with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), Canada’s national housing agency, I have dedicated my career to advancing equitable, evidence-based solutions to some of our country’s most pressing social issues—particularly the basic human right to decent, affordable housing. My work involves daily collaboration across sectors on complex challenges affecting the most vulnerable Canadians, whether in Indigenous communities, rural areas, the North, or major urban centres—work that closely aligns with Amnesty’s mission to uphold human rights and human dignity for all.
I have a strong passion for transparent and accountable governance, which has guide both my professional and academic journey. I began my career years ago as a Medical Doctor, later earning a Master in International Business and, more recently, completing a certification in corporate governance. As a member of The Chartered Governance Institute of Canada, I bring diverse expertise in board governance, risk management, financial oversight, and public service. I’ve also gained valuable insight into board dynamics through participation on impactful national committees within CMHC and through prior experience serving on the board of my alumni non-profit organization.
Having lived, studied, and worked across different countries and cultures—including regions where Amnesty is actively engaged (Canada, Egypt & UAE)—I bring meaningful diversity of thought and a global perspective to the board table.
I am committed to advancing Amnesty’s values through principled leadership, strong governance, and collaboration.
It would be a privilege to serve and represent our membership in this role, and I would be grateful for your support and your vote.
