Tell Your MP: The USA Isn’t Safe for Refugees

U.S. President Donald Trump has signed several Executive Orders targeting the rights and safety of refugees in the United States.

Canada’s ‘Safe Third Country Agreement’ means that most refugees who arrive in the US cannot make claims in Canada.

The United States is failing to protect refugees. We must rescind the “Safe Third Country Agreement.”

Amnesty International has issued an open letter to Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Ahmed Hussan and we are committed to fighting these violations of refugee and human rights. You can listen to an interview with Secretary General Alex Neve about our call on CBC’s Ottawa Morning. UPDATE June 27, 2017: Amnesty International and the Canadian Council for Refugees have released a 52-page brief outlining the many ways that the US asylum system and immigration detention regime fail to meet required international and Canadian legal standards.

We need your help! Tell the Minister *and* your Member of Parliament that you support rescinding the Safe Third Country Agreement.
