“I have been a committed member, donor, activist, and volunteer with Amnesty International for over 20 years. My extensive involvement with the organization, alongside my professional experience, has prepared me well to stand for election to the Board of Directors.
My active engagement with Amnesty began in 2005, when I collaborated with staff and fellow volunteers to launch the Reel Awareness Film Festival, an initiative that ran successfully for several years. In 2009, I was first elected to the Board of Directors, where I served two consecutive two-year terms. After stepping down, I was elected as a Member Delegate to the 2015 International Council Meeting (now the Global Assembly). That same year, I was invited to rejoin the Board to support strategic human resource initiatives. Over the course of 10 years on the Board, I served in various capacities, including five years as Board Chair.
During my tenure, I contributed to several national and international committees, including the Senior Management Evaluation Committee, Finance and Audit Committee, Nominations Committee, and the International Accountability Project. After my term concluded in 2021, I was elected to the International Preparatory Committee—the body responsible for organizing and leading the Global Assembly. In 2022, I was asked to assume the role of Global Assembly Chair on short notice and successfully led the virtual Assembly that year. I continued in this leadership position in 2023, chairing the in-person Global Assembly in Belgium, which welcomed over 300 delegates and guests.
Professionally, I bring a wealth of experience in leadership roles across diverse sectors. I have led high-performing sales teams, developed and delivered training programs, overseen organizational change initiatives, and thrived in complex matrix environments requiring strong cross-functional collaboration to drive innovation and performance.
I am deeply familiar with Amnesty’s structure, governance, and the unique dynamics that shape its identity as the world’s largest grassroots human rights organization. My motivation for rejoining the Board is rooted in a firm commitment to ensuring Amnesty continues to grow and evolve, while remaining steadfast in its principles as a member-led movement since 1961.
Thank you for considering my candidacy.”
