Marie Clarke Walker

As someone who has dedicated my life to advancing human rights, equity and social justice, I believe my experience and values strongly align with the core objectives of Amnesty International’s Board of Directors. Over the past several decades, I’ve, worked to ensure that the voices of workers, especially those from marginalized communities, are heard and respected. My work has always extended beyond national borders. I’ve represented Canadian workers and the voices of Global workers at the International Labour Organization, where I served as a workers representative and Vice Chair of a Conference. I was actively involved in the adoption of the ILO Convention 190 on Violence and Harassment in the World of Work – an initiative that speaks directly to Amnesty’s commitment to gender justice and freedom from violence.

In every leadership position I have held, I brought a commitment to good governance, accountability and principled decision-making. I understand how to navigate complex organizations, build coalitions, and engage diverse communities to create lasting change. At my core, I am deeply committed to anti-racism, intersectional justice and international solidarity. These values have guided my work and would continue to do so as a member of Amnesty Internationals Board. I would be honoured to contribute my skills, experience and passion to help strengthen Amnesty’s mission and impact around the world.
